The Malkajgiri police arrested four persons involved in a high-value robbery at a gated community villa in Jawaharnagar on Saturday.
The accused, identified as Sunitha alias Sabina (28), Biswal alias Viswal (30), Kamal Bahadur Chalaune (34) and Jankar Bahadur Chalaune alias Shankar (38), all natives of Nepal, were nabbed near Rathifile bus stand in Secunderabad on Saturday morning.
The dacoities were reported on May 12 by Murali Mohan Narsipuram, a 68-year-old “international arbitrator” based at Mohans Golf Enclave in Kowkoor,
Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B Sumathi said two Nepali workers, Rajesh and Meena, who had been working in India for the past few years, planned the robbery after identifying an elderly couple as vulnerable targets. Police said Meena facilitated Sabina’s entry into the complainant’s house as a domestic help and introduced Rajesh as her husband on April 25, 2026.
Investigations revealed that the gang held a fake birthday party in the servants’ quarters on May 11 before carrying out the robbery later that night. The five accused, including Rajesh, Sabeena, Meena, Chang and Samrat, entered the house while the others waited outside the gated community to facilitate their escape.
Police said the accused restrained the couple, administered an unknown sedative, tied them up and broke the almirahs.
The gang camped with about 60 tolas of gold ornaments, 15 kilograms of silver items, two mobile phones, $3,000 in cash and other valuables.
After the crime, the accused fled in an autorickshaw and a scooter, which was later abandoned near Yapralu and traced by the police. Investigators said the gang later hired taxi vehicles and tried to flee through the Secunderabad railway station.
The remaining accused are absconding and efforts are on to nab them.
