NEW DELHI: Lucknow Super Giants, already eliminated from play-off contention, dented Chennai Super Kings’ chances of further promotion in IPL 2026 with an impressive victory at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday. After restricting CSK to 187/5 with Akash Singh claiming 3 for 26 in his first match of the season, LSG chased down the target with 20 balls to spare to claim a seven-wicket win, their fourth win in 12 matches. The win gave them 8 points but left them stuck at the bottom of the 10 team table. The defeat was significant for ČSK, which is still hanging in the play-off. CSK slipped a place to sixth after the loss as their net run rate (NRR) is now lower than Rajasthan Royals who also have a game in hand. CSK have 12 points from 12 matches while RR have 12 from 11.With 11 matches left in the league stage, defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru are leading the IPL 2026 standings with 16 points ahead of Gujarat Titans on excellent NRR.Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings are third and fourth with 14 and 13 points respectively.Behind CSK and still in the playoffs are Delhi Capitals (10 points) and Kolkata Knight Riders (9 points).Mumbai Indians and LSG are the only two sides already ruled out of contention.
