
Minister of Labour, Mines and Geology Dr. G. Vivek Venkataswamy reiterated that the State Government is determined to restore the past glory of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) through new coal mines and new employment opportunities.
He was speaking at a function held at the KK-5 underground coal mine in Mandamarri area of Mancherial district on Thursday, a press release said.
The Minister urged the workers and officials of SCCL to work in tandem and do their bit for the growth of the government coal mining company.
He said that the state government is taking steps to enable SCCL to participate in tenders for coal blocks in accordance with the laws of the central government.
He pointed out that the establishment of new mines would create significant employment, with the Ramakrishnapur Opencast (RKP OC) Phase-2 project alone expected to provide livelihood to about 5,000 people.
The minister assured that the mine will be put into operation immediately after receiving the mandatory forest clearance.
“I have already raised the issue of income tax on employee benefits to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna is actively pushing the demand of ₹ 10,000 per month pension for retired SCCL workers in Parliament,” he added.
