NEW DELHI: Chennai Super Kings have brought in South African all-rounder Diana Forrester as Jamie Overton’s replacement for the remainder of IPL 2026 after the England international was ruled out with a right thigh injury.CSK confirmed the move on Thursday, a day after announcing Overton would return to the UK for further assessment and proceedings. “Dian Forrester joins team in place of Jamie Overton,” the franchise posted on social media.
Overton’s exit adds to CSK’s injury woes
Overton has emerged as one of CSK’s most impressive overseas players this season. The all-rounder took 14 wickets and scored 136 runs in 10 matches, playing a key role with the new ball and in the lower middle order.His departure is yet another setback for an already injury-ridden side. CSK earlier signed Macneil Noronha as a replacement for injured all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh, while several first-choice players missed parts of the campaign.The five-time champions have also had to cope without Nathan Ellis and Spencer Johnson for long periods, while former MS captain Dhoni is yet to feature this season due to a calf problem.

Forrester arrives with a strong home record for South Africa and experience in five T20Is. A left-handed and right-handed batsman, the 24-year-old has scored more than 1,000 first-class runs at an average of over 45 and an average of over 50 in List A cricket.In T20s, he has scored 681 runs at a success rate of over 140, making him a similar all-rounder for CSK as they push for a playoff spot.CSK’s next challenge comes against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow on May 15, with the franchise hoping that Forrester can quickly fill the last gap in their injury-hit squad.
