Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board member G. Bhanu Prakash Reddy criticized Tamil Nadu Assembly DMK leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for his recent statement on the floor of the House on eradication of Sanatana Dharma, a stance he took when he was in power.
Addressing a media conference in Tirupati on Wednesday (May 13, 2026), Mr Reddy took exception to the Tamil Nadu politician’s “continued attack” on Sanatana Dharma, calling it a “lesson learnt” even after the party’s recent election debacle.
He added that the party would be doomed if it continued to maintain the stance which he said had let the party down in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
“Despite thousands of years of Mughal and British rule, Sanatana Dharma has flourished in India without a break. No one can do away with the religion of the people,” he said.
Referring to Udhayanidhi’s mother Durga, Stalin, who regularly visits temples, including shrines run by the TTD, appealed to the young leader to learn from his mother.
He also blamed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay for remaining silent on the remark made in his presence at the rally.
