SIT probe reveals police conspiracy in Sai Krishna custodial death case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna (25) found that Head Constable P Ashok had allegedly sent a gym trainer to Goa with Sai Krishna’s mobile phone.

The SIT headed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) M Ravi Prakash verified the call records of accused Circle Inspector (CI) SSVV Nagaraju and four constables who were in judicial custody.

Investigating officers have listed the persons with whom the suspended CIs, constables P. Ashok, K. Babu Rao, G. Sambaiah and J. Nani, spoke between May 5 and the end of the month.

The police were verifying the new numbers, repeat calls, the duration of the calls and the phone numbers that the accused and the suspects used to talk during the night hours. They also checked the social media groups used by the accused.

Gymnastics coach sent to Goa

During the investigation, it came to light that Constable Ashok allegedly sent his gym trainer Sushanth on a trip to Goa and asked him to carry Sai Krishna’s mobile phone.

According to the investigating officers, the accused allegedly planned the conspiracy and tried to create a story that the deceased had escaped from police custody and traveled to Goa where his mobile phone signals were traced.

The SIT officials, who collected details of Sushant’s trip to Goa, including the hotel he checked into and other details, also asked if the gym trainer had called Sai Krishna from his phone while he was in Goa.

The police, who interrogated the friends of the accused CI and constables, also interrogated the gym trainer and recorded his statement. The gym trainer reportedly confessed that the police constable gave him a mobile phone which he was carrying to Goa.
