Wimbledon rankings: Djokovic, Sinner headline quarterfinal action

The Wimbledon quarter-finals begin on Tuesday and the biggest names in action include Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka.

Djokovic and defending champion Sinner are both in action and could set up a sensational semi-final if they get through their last eight matches. In the women’s draw, Osaka will continue her impressive run after knocking out world number one Arya Sabalenko, while Gauff and Pegula will meet in the All-American quarter-finals.

Center Court will also host the conclusion of Alexander Zverev’s fourth-round match with Jiri Lehecka after play was suspended due to Wimbledon’s 11pm curfew on Monday. Zverev leads by two sets, the third set is at 3:3.

DJOKOVIC CONTINUES TO OFFER HISTORY

Djokovic will face third seed Felix Auger-Aliassim in the top men’s quarter-final on Center Court. The pair are tied at 1-1 in their head-to-head record, with progress to the semi-finals up for grabs.

The 39-year-old Serb is chasing a record 25th Grand Slam title and eighth Wimbledon crown, which would match Roger Federer’s record for most men’s singles titles at the All England Club. Djokovic would also become the oldest men’s Grand Slam champion in the Open era.

Sinner Interview after becoming the youngest semi-finalist since Djokovic, but Alcaraz was about to claim that record soon after

“It won’t last because Alcaraz… But I’m still young and happy. Let me keep that feeling for at least one day.”pic.twitter.com/m3AcFBie8K https://t.co/7iXsf48lsU— SK (@Djoko_UTD) July 4, 2026

The former world number one admitted that recovery has become a bigger priority as she tries to maintain her remarkable longevity.

“I think the amount of time I spend recovering these days is more than ever. It’s just the demands of today’s body – more wear and tear,” Djokovic said.

“Throughout my career, I always try to look for what can give me an edge. What is the best regeneration, wellness technology that exists.”

“From hyperbaric chambers, to cryochambers, to cold immersion, to red light therapy, to pulsed electromagnetic therapies. I’ve used a lot of things.”

SINNER EYES ANOTHER SEMI-FINALS

World number one Sinner continues his title defense against Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff, whom he has defeated in all three previous meetings.

The Italian was questioned about his ability to handle the hot conditions following his French Open exit earlier this year, but believes he is well prepared for the challenge.

“I feel like I’m well prepared. We’ve prepared well. Whatever happened in the past is gone. Now we’ll see if we’ve found a solution,” Sinner said.

“But in any case, the feelings are different in the Grand Slam quarterfinals. There is definitely more tension. At the same time, I am very happy where I am at the moment.”

If both Djokovic and Sinner advance, they will meet in a rematch of last year’s Wimbledon semifinals.

OSAKA, GAUFF CHASE LAST FOUR BED

The women’s quarterfinals promise two exciting battles.

Osaka will face Karolina Muchova after she produced one of the biggest wins of the tournament, knocking out top seed Arya Sabalenkova in the fourth round. Their rivalry is level at 3-3, with both players looking to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals for the first time.

Center Court opens with fourth seed Jessica Pegula against seventh seed Coco Gauff. Pegula leads the head-to-head match 5-3, while Gauff reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time after finishing her fourth-round match just before the end of the match on Sunday.
