
Within days of being sworn in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Vijay ordered the closure of 717 liquor retail outlets located up to 500 meters from places of worship, educational institutions and bus stands. Actions regarding the closure of retail liquor shops must be taken within two weeks, according to the official notification.
Tamil Nadu’s Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) said in a statement: “In the interest of public welfare, Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru. S. Joseph Vijay has ordered the closure of 717 liquor retail outlets located up to 500 meters from places of worship, educational institutions and bus stands within two weeks.”
