The state government has decided to seek the views of all stakeholders on the revision of minimum wages of workers in a manner that is beneficial to them.
The government has decided to ensure that the revision will benefit workers in both the organized and unorganized sectors. A cabinet sub-committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka deliberated on the issue on Monday.
The committee decided that workers’ wages should not be revised only numerically but should reflect their real life needs. Wages must keep pace with rising prices and the rising cost of living. The cabinet sub-committee said the government is firm in implementing the best wage models in Telangana.
The deputy minister said the government wants the wage revision to be scientific and practical. Accordingly, the committee reviewed the minimum wage policies being implemented in other major states. The panelists discussed the possible impact of the new labor code that the central government was planning to introduce.
