Census Commissioners have started the process of house numbering in Telangana as part of the Census-2027 process.
The process was launched after the self-enumeration option for Census-2027 in the state — which was made available from April 26, 2026 — ended on Sunday (May 10, 2026). The enumerators’ house visits began on Monday and will continue till June 9, 2026.
Director of Census Operations, Telangana, Bharati Hollikeri said that the numbering will be used for the initial three to four days to confirm the House Listing Block (HLB) boundaries of the respective Census Commissioners. They (computers) then go door to door to collect data.

A senior official said that of the total number of 5,64,667 who registered for self-counting in the state, 5,14,038 completed the process online.
ID cards with QR codes
There have previously been concerns online that fraudsters could pose as tax collectors and visit people’s homes. Earlier, Ms. Hollikeri said enumerators and their supervisors are equipped with identity cards that have a QR code. If anyone is in doubt, they can scan the QR code and check the authenticity of the enumerators.
Nagarkurnool District Collector Hemanta Keshav Patil on Monday also spoke about the QR code on ID cards and how one can get details from the official website after scanning the code.
