West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari will hold his first cabinet meeting on Monday (May 11, 2026) at Nabanna, the administrative headquarters of the state.
On Monday (May 11), Mr. Adhikari will enter Nabanna for the first time as Chief Minister. In the first cabinet meeting, the portfolios will be allotted to the five ministers who were sworn in with the CM on Saturday (May 9). The cabinet is likely to set up a commission of inquiry into the atrocities committed on women during the Trinamool Congress regime.
The newly elected Chief Minister will also hold three administrative meetings in Nabanna on Monday (May 11). He will meet with the highest representatives of the state administration. After that, he is likely to meet the district magistrates in the afternoon. He will also meet the top officials of the state police. According to sources, the West Bengal Director General of Police, Kolkata Police Commissioner and other senior officials from various zones in the state will attend the meeting. On Sunday (May 10), Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Nand and Howrah Police Commissioner Akhilesh Chaturvedi visited Nabanna and reviewed the security arrangements.
The task is to restore Bengal
Mr. Adhikari said his mission is to rebuild West Bengal. “West Bengal has suffered a lot. Culture has been destroyed. Education has been lost. We will rebuild West Bengal. There are many responsibilities,” he said after taking the oath.
On Saturday (May 9), retired IAS officer Subrata Gupta, who was appointed as a special observer by the Election Commission during the West Bengal elections, was appointed as an adviser to the CM. Shantanu Bala (IAS) ADM of South 24 Parganas has been appointed as Private Secretary to CM. On Sunday (May 10), the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms issued a notification ordering the transfer of 10 bureaucrats, nine of whom are moving to the chief minister’s office. Among the officers transferred as CMO is Surjit Roy, the returning officer from Bhabanipur Assembly, where Mr. Adhikari defeated Mamata Banerjee by 15,115 votes.
