A 32-year-old plumber ended his life at his Kompally residence on Saturday night allegedly due to alcohol addiction and recurring domestic disputes, police said.
The deceased was identified as Mohammed Madar, a resident of Kumarabasti in Kompally. He is survived by his wife and three children.
According to police, Madar developed a severe alcohol addiction and often argued with his wife over money. Family members told police that he often spent most of his earnings on alcohol and had previously attempted suicide while drunk.
On 9 May, Madar allegedly argued with his wife and demanded ₹200 before leaving the house for consuming alcohol.
Later that evening, while his wife and children were out, he called his wife around 8:30 p.m. and told her he intended to end his life.
Alarmed by the phone call, his wife immediately alerted a relative who lived nearby. Neighbors rushed to the house and broke down the door, only to find Madara hanging inside the residence.
The police handed over the body for autopsy and registered a case based on a complaint filed by his wife.
Further investigation is underway.
