State Home Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday appealed to BJP workers and supporters not to believe the allegations leveled against him and his family, saying he would never indulge in any act that could bring the party into disrepute.
Mr. Sanjay’s remarks come amid Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) demands for his removal from the Union Cabinet over allegations that he “tried to pressure” the complainant in a case registered against his son under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act in Hyderabad.
Addressing BJP cadres at a public meeting held at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad, Mr. Sanjay said he would fight against those trying to tarnish his image, asserting that he would not be intimidated by “attacks or conspiracies”.
Urging party workers to remain united, he said the next political target of the BJP after winning West Bengal was Telangana and expressed confidence that the party would come to power in the state.
Reaffirming his ideological background, Mr. Sanjay said that he grew up in the tradition of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and would continue to work for the country and religion.
He also launched an attack on the ruling Congress government in Telangana and the BRS, alleging that both parties were losing political ground due to the growing influence of the BJP in the state.
