Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav sought the report after a section of the media alleged irregularities in the purchase of medical equipment in Andhra Pradesh.
The minister on Saturday issued written instructions to Health Minister Saurabh Gaur to investigate allegations that medical equipment is being bought at exorbitant prices and that unnecessary equipment is being procured and firms that have been declared ineligible for supply are given another chance.
Mr. Satya Kumar Yadav directed the Health Minister to submit a comprehensive report at the earliest and suggest ways to increase transparency in the system.
According to a statement issued by the health department, Andhra Pradesh Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMSIDC) managing director Krishna Mohan met the health minister and explained that he has no role in finalizing the technical specifications for the purchase of the equipment. He revised the proposals only twice, refined and provided details.
Later, the minister discussed with him the issues related to the transfers that are likely to take place in 2026. The minister asked the officials concerned to implement an online system for error-free transfers within a short period of time.
