Yashasvi Jaiswal captained Rajasthan Royals in their IPL 2026 encounter against Gujarat Titans on Saturday, May 9 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. It was Jaiswal’s first time leading an IPL side and he came in for regular skipper Riyan Parag, who missed the match with a hamstring injury. In fact, Jaiswal has never led a T20 team before.

Jaiswal also gave an update on Parag’s injury, which the all-rounder suffered during Rajasthan’s previous match against Delhi Capitals. During that match, the RR skipper experienced discomfort, spent time off the field, got a leg taped and later remained in the dugout as injury concerns persisted.
“Parag pulled his hamstring, he will be back soon,” Jaiswal said at the toss.
For Rajasthan Royals, left-arm batsman Shimron Hetmyer and leg-spinner Yash Raj Punja have also been included in the playing XI. The Royals are currently fourth in the scoring standings with 12 points and a +.510 hitting streak, winning six of their 10 games this season.
Gujarat Titans, meanwhile, made just one change, bringing back fast bowler Prasidh Krishna in place of Manav Suthar. Riding a three-match winning streak and in impressive form, GT will look to move one step closer to sealing a place in the play-offs.
