In a late night development on Friday (May 8, 2026), Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam leader TTV Dhinakaran accused the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) of submitting a photocopy of a “forged letter” to the Governor, claiming to have the support of a lone MLA elected by his party from Mannargudi constituency.

“TVK, which claims to be a ‘clean force’, indulged in forgery in the hope that they could later engage in horse-trading and buy our lone MLA as it would not attract the anti-defection law. They submitted a photocopy of ‘a WhatsApp letter’ to the Governor. When he asked for the original, they left saying that Mr. Bucha Kamrajkaran would bring it accompanied by an out-of-town journalist.
He said that a police report would be filed against the case. He said Mr Kamaraj was “shocked” to see that a forged letter had been submitted on his behalf.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Dhinakaran sent another letter to the Governor extending support to AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, urging him to be invited to form the government. The letter contained his signature as well as that of Mr. Kamaraj (obtained earlier).
However, later on Friday night (May 8, 2026), TVK reportedly denied the allegations, according to news agency ANI. The party reportedly shared a video which it claimed showed Mr. Kamaraj of AMMK signing his letter in support of TVK. She accused Mr Dhinakaran of spreading “fake news and misinformation”.

While the Congress and Left parties in Tamil Nadu have extended their support to TVK chief Mr. Vijay, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) is yet to officially announce its support as uncertainty looms over the formation of a new government in Tamil Nadu.
