Wisdom Valley will be established in Bengaluru Airport City near the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.
The Karnataka State Policy and Planning Commission (KSPPC) has proposed the establishment of Wisdom Valley, a world-class knowledge city dedicated to promoting education, research, innovation and sustainable urban development at Bengaluru Airport City, located near the Kempegowda International Airport.
“The project seeks to create a globally recognized ecosystem for knowledge generation, dissemination and application by integrating international institutes, research centers, innovation centers and knowledge industries into a single integrated urban framework,” KSPPC Vice Chairman BR Patil said in a letter to the Principal Secretary, Department of Planning, Program Monitoring and Statistics.
He added that the project is proposed to be implemented in phases including planning, infrastructure development, institutional establishment and operation.
“The estimated cost of the project is around ₹ 15,500 crore, covering feasibility studies, infrastructure development, institutional setup and initial operational expenditure,” he added.
In another communication to Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, KSPPC member S. Mohanadass Hegde said that the project is conceived as an innovative urban development aimed at promoting knowledge generation, dissemination and application.
He said that this project should come up in Bengaluru Airport City.
Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) Managing Director and CEO Hari Marar said in a letter to Ms Rajneesh about the proposed project: “We would appreciate the opportunity to be further involved in assessing how Wisdom Valley and the Airport City development can be aligned and leveraged to maximize benefits to the state.”
Spread over 463 acres, Bengaluru Airport City has business parks, a global innovation hub, an education and healthcare precinct, a retail dining (RDE) village, a concert arena, a convention and exhibition centre, a knowledge park, a hospitality precinct, a logistics park and a central park.
