Pahalgam Terror Attack: NIA indicts Hafiz Saeed, Pakistan plot details | Today’s news

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday filed a fresh charge sheet in the dastardly Pahalgam terror attack case and named Pakistani terrorist Hafiz Saeed, chief of the banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its active proxy organization The Resistance Front (TRF).

Filed in continuation of the original 1,597-page chargesheet, the chargesheet provides details of “Pakistani conspiracy, role of Hafeez Saeed and supporting evidence collected by NIA in the case through meticulous scientific investigation and ground examination”.

In a chargesheet filed in a special NIA court, Jammu, the counter-terrorism agency has charged Hafiz Saeed in his “individual capacity” as well as being the head of the LeT and TRF under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

The NIA also invoked the criminal section against Hafiz Saeed for waging war against India and conspiracy across the border in the charge sheet.

In its earlier chargesheet filed on 15 December 2025, the NIA had named Pakistani terrorist Sajid Jatt as an accused along with three terrorists killed by security forces during Operation Mahadev in July 2025 and also two arrested accused. It also accused the banned terrorist organization LeT/TRF as a legal entity for its role in planning, facilitating and executing the Pahalgam terror attack.

The deadly attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025 involved targeted killings on the basis of religion by Pak-sponsored terrorists. 25 innocent tourists and one local civilian were killed in the attack. The FIR was initially registered at Pahalgam Police Station, Anantnag District. After an initial investigation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the case was handed over to the NIA by the Home Ministry.

The NIA said it is continuing its investigation into the case to uncover the complete conspiracy by Pakistan, which is actively sponsoring terrorism on Indian soil from across the border.
