AIADMK Puducherry unit secretary and MLA-elect A. Anbalagan on Thursday (May 7, 2026) said party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami was “saddened” by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s defeat from Kolathur constituency in the assembly elections.
“Why would anyone think of getting rid of a leader like Mr. Palaniswami, who has such a big heart that he was even saddened by Mr. Stalin’s defeat.? When I met Mr. Palaniswami in Chennai, he spoke to me about Mr. Stalin’s defeat in Kolathur. Mr. Palaniswami said that he (Mr. Palaniswami) was in public service for decades. He should be in public service for decades. Anbalagan told the media.

Confirming that some newly elected AIADMK legislators from Tamil Nadu are staying at the resort here on Mr Palaniswami’s “instructions”, Mr Anbalgan said all the legislators are united under the leadership of the party general secretary. “There is no faction, all the elected MLAs are here on the instructions of Mr. Palaniswami. They are not there because of any instructions from any other leader. The elected members will follow whatever decisions our leader takes,” he said.
Asked why the elected representatives were staying at the resort in Puducherry, Mr. Anbalagan said the climate was better in Puducherry than Chennai. “It’s cooler here,” he added.
According to police sources, there are around 30 elected legislators at the RKN Beach Resort in Pudukuppam. Multiple connections per day option. The legislators arrived in Puducherry on Wednesday (May 6) and were initially accommodated at The Shore Thrishvam. As the Thrishvam center had some advance online bookings for Friday (May 8), the AIADMK members were shifted to the nearby RKN on Thursday (May 7) afternoon, police said.
