Babar Azam has been ruled out of Pakistan’s opening Test against Bangladesh after suffering a knee injury. The right-handed batsman will miss the match starting on Friday, May 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
Babar has been in excellent form after a spectacular Pakistan Super League campaign where he led Peshawar Zalmi to the title. However, the injury has now sidelined him and the star batsman will remain under the supervision of the medical staff.
“Pakistan batsman Babar Azam will not be available for the first Test match against Bangladesh due to a left knee injury. The team medical board is currently assessing his condition. Further updates will be provided in due course,” PCB wrote in a statement.
