Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cadres ransacked the camp office of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA in Karimnagar, Gangula Kamalakar, and made a futile bid to attack Huzurabad (BRS) MLA P. Kaushik Reddy in Karimnagar around noon on Thursday 22 May 7.
A furious BJP cadre, armed with sticks, stormed the camp office in protest against what they termed Mr Reddy’s “unwarranted and derogatory remarks” on Union Home Minister Bandi Sajay during a press conference held at the camp office earlier in the day.
Mr. Reddy accused Mr. Sanjay of using tobacco mixed with drugs and made him undergo a drug test. The remarks triggered a violent protest by BJP workers who went berserk, looting office furniture and smashing the window panes of Mr. Reddy’s car.
The enraged cadre tried unsuccessfully to attack Mr. Reddy, who was in the conference hall of the camp office. Even as the police locked the main entrance gate of the camp office, the protesters tried to climb over the gate. When tension broke out, the police dispersed the agitators by using mild laticharge.
