Bengaluru have been denied the chance to host the final of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. In a surprising turn of events, Ahmedabad once again got a chance to host the title fight, which is a big surprise.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL Governing Council have shared a statement regarding the play-off spots for the ongoing edition. In it, they explained that Bengaluru were indeed the designated hosts for the final. However, certain requirements of the local authorities came into play, which were beyond their scope, which resulted in a change of venue.
“Due to certain operational and logistical considerations, the TATA IPL 2026 Playoffs will be held as a special case at three venues this season. Bengaluru was initially earmarked to host the final,” the statement said.
“However, due to certain demands of the local association and authorities, which were beyond the established BCCI guidelines and protocols, the venue was shifted and allotted,” he adds.
The BCCI on Tuesday confirmed that Qualifier 1 will be played in Dharamshala while both Eliminator and Qualifier 2 will be played in New Chandigarh before the tournament ends in Ahmedabad.
