Even one vote can make a difference, says a well-known saying. In the case of KR Periakaruppan in Tirupattur, he was proved right. A margin of one vote cost the incumbent DMK MLA the seat in the 2026 assembly elections. The margin went in favor of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate Seenivasa Sethupathy R., who was declared the winner. Mr Periakaruppan has been winning from the constituency since 2006.
In Veppanahalli, sitting AIADMK MLA K. Munusamy lost to DMK’s PS Srinivasan by 138 votes. Mr. Srinivasan got 74,691 votes. In Kanniyakumari, Thalavai Sundaram, the incumbent AIADMK MLA, won by 214 votes. He defeated DMK’s Mahesh who got 74,831 votes. In Polur, R. Abishek of TVK won by 227 votes defeating P. Saravanan of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, an ally of DMK.
