The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)The National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-led on Monday (May 4, 2026) swept the Assam Assembly elections, winning 101 of the 126 seats to retain power for a third consecutive term. However, the election also saw notable defeats for the sons of three former chief ministers, marking a significant shift in the state’s political landscape.
