An Instagram story by India’s premier doubles duo of Satwik Rankirajreddy and Chirag Shetty caught the attention of fans after winning the bronze medal in the Thomas Cup in India. In a post shared on their Instagram accounts, the former world number one men’s doubles pair showed two images of the team that traveled to Horsens to compete for the Thomas Cup.
It was a classic “how it started, how it goes” Instagram story, but the cryptic message at the bottom caught the attention of fans. Both the photos showed that there was no fanfare surrounding the Indian team as they went to Denmark in search of a medal. In addition, it was clear that there was no grand exit or welcome for the team.
Satwik said it seemed like no one knew what had happened in the last two weeks, and no one really cared.
“Back home now. As usual no one knows what happened in the last two weeks and no one really seems to care,” Satwik said. (Credit: Satwik Instagram)
This story was also posted by Chirag on his Instagram account. It remains unclear what Satwik and Chirag mention in their post after returning home. This caught the attention of fans who described it as sad to see the badminton heroes getting a muted reception at home.
INDIAN THOMAS CUP CAMPAIGN
India ended their Thomas Cup 2026 campaign with a bronze medal – just the second podium finish for the men’s team and their first since the landmark gold in 2022, which was achieved largely by the same group of players.
Satwik-Chirag, Lakshya Sen and Ayush Shetty were India’s standout performers in their run to the semi-finals, where they lost 0:3 to France.
India was without the services of Lakshya for clashing with the French after being injured in a clash with Chinese Taipei.
Satwik-Chirag could not compete in the match as France won all three singles comprehensively.
