With the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) showing in West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry likely to energize the party rank and file in Punjab, which goes to polls in a few months, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday (May 4, 2026) sought to downplay the boost.
The saffron party has historically struggled to make inroads in Punjab, but of late the party has been campaigning aggressively to gain a foothold in the border state. In March this year, Union Minister Amit Shah sounded the party bugle at a rally in Badlav, Moz.
