The Paravur Assembly constituency once again stood behind the United Democratic Front (UDF) as its candidate VD Satheesan secured his sixth consecutive victory in one of the keenly watched Assembly election contests.
Mr Satheesan won by a margin of 20,600 votes securing 78,658 votes. ET Taison of the Left Democratic Front (LDF), who managed to secure a slim lead in the third round of counting, got 58,058 votes. Valsala Prasannakumar, a former North Paravur village Congress president who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the elections, finished third with 20,377 votes. Mr Satheesan won the constituency with a margin of 21,301 votes amid the 2021 Left wave against LDF’s MT Nixon who got 60,963 votes. It was in 2001 that the Congress leader won the segment for the first time after defeating P. Raja of the Communist Party of India by a margin of 7,434 votes.
