As counting for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections is underway, it is clear that the newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)led by actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay, swept all but two of the 16 constituencies in the state capital, Chennai.
This included the defeat of Chief Minister MK Stalin from Kolathur constituency at the hands of TVK’s VS Babu. This is the first time a sitting prime minister has lost his seat since late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s defeat from the Bargur constituency in 1996.
