A group of 37 award-winning teachers from Andhra Pradesh started a five-day training program in National Institute of Education (NIE) in Singapore, the first part of the state government’s initiative to send 66 teachers on overseas educational tours, said Samagra Shiksha State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao, in a report issued on Monday (May 4, 2026), said the initiative aims to improve the quality of education in state to meet global standards. The 37 teachers in the first phase, all winners of the 2025 State Best Teacher Award, are participating in the program at NIE Singapore from May 4 to 8, while the remaining 29 will go to Finland in the second phase. The program is in accordance with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision to bring students in the state to the level of their peers from other countries, he said.
