
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast hailstorm, thundershowers and light to moderate rain over parts of north India on Monday and Tuesday.
The IMD in a press release on Monday said, “Isolated to scattered thundershowers, lightning and gusty winds (40-60 kmph) and hail likely over northwest, central and east India during May 4-5, 2026.”

The weather today, May 4
The IMD has forecast isolated hailstorm activity over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Haryana Chandigarh and Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan on Monday (May 4) and over East Uttar Pradesh on May 3 and 4.
“Isolated heavy rains likely over Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh on May 4,” the IMD said, adding isolated hailstorm likely over Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on Monday.
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya are expected to witness “fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate thundershowers” on Monday, May 4.

In which states/UTs will it rain on May 5 and 6?
Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh: The IMD has predicted scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with thundershowers, lightning and gusty winds.
Rajasthan: The IMD forecast: “Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thundershowers, lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) over West Rajasthan during (May) 4-7 May and East Rajasthan during 4-8 May.”
Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura: Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall during May 4 to May 6.

Arunachal Pradesh: “Isolated heavy rains likely over Arunachal Pradesh on May 4-5, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on May 4,” the IMD said.
Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha: “Isolated to scattered light to moderate rain with thundershowers, lightning gusty winds (speed reaching 30-50 kmph) likely over Bihar on May 5, 7 and 8; Jharkhand during May 6-10 and Odisha during May 6-8,” the IMD said.
Heavy rainfall is also predicted over parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe during the next five days.
Delhi Weather Today: Night rain, thunderstorms bring down temperatures
Overnight thunderstorms and rain accompanied by gusty winds brought temperatures down across Delhi on Monday, with the minimum temperature dropping several degrees below normal, according to the IMD.
The maximum temperature in Delhi on Monday is likely to be in the range of 31-33 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD.

At Safdarjung town base station, the minimum temperature was recorded at 18.8 degrees Celsius, 5.9 degrees below normal, according to IMD data as reported by PTI.
Palam recorded a minimum of 17.9 degrees Celsius, 7.7 degrees below normal, while The Ridge recorded a minimum temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, 7 degrees below normal.

Lodi Road recorded a minimum of 20 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees below normal, and Ayanagar 19 degrees Celsius, 4.6 degrees below normal, according to the IMD.
Rain lashed several areas in Delhi from late night to early morning. Safdarjung recorded around 5.7 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Monday, while Palam received about 5.7 mm.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality on Monday morning was “moderate” with an AQI reading of 106, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.
CPCB classifies AQIs between 0 and 50 as “good”, 51 and 100 as “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 as “moderate”, 201 and 300 as “poor”, 301 and 400 as “very poor” and 401 and 50.
