
Ahead of the West Bengal election results, comedian Vir Das has released a clarification on his identity. The reason for the post is his Bengali looking surname.
“So whenever anything happens in Bengal I usually get tagged by a bunch of faceless (that’s the word) saying ‘Look what happened in your Bengali bro’. I’ll just put it out there before it develops today. My name is Das but I’m not actually a Bengali. I’m half UP, half Bihari. Good luck (sic),” Vir Das wrote.

Social media posted some hilarious reactions.
One of them wrote, “What a combination! Half UP, half Bihari.”
“Your grandfather is from Bengal. Padma Shri awardee. So says Wikipedia. How much will you run away from your Bengal bro?” another user asked.
“Publicity mili toh problem, nahi problem,” wrote another user.
One user wrote: “Alright, I ask what is happening in UP and BIHAR?”
“I was a year ago today when I realized I was misattributing your intelligence to Bengal,” one user joked.
Some reactions were not easy. Several users were quite serious with their accusations.
“But you are morally corrupt and woke up like most of the TMC goons so this is the reason for this confusion,” one of them wrote.
“Half up + half Bihari should always be a nationalist, how come you are a leftist?” another user asked.

West Bengal Election Results
Meanwhile, the BJP looks set to topple Mamata Banerjee’s government in West Bengal. According to early trends, the saffron party is ahead with 145 seats, while Banerjee’s TMC is leading with 112 seats.
The current picture is in line with most pre-election polls which predicted the BJP to win more than 160 seats in Bengal.

During the second phase of elections in West Bengal, 91.66% voting was recorded. It was the highest voter turnout ever since independence. Voter turnout in the first phase was 93.19%. The overall survey percentage was 92.47%.
“There is anti-location and also Hindus are consolidating in favor of Lotus. This is a very good sign for us… There has also been bifurcation of Muslim elections, especially in Malda, Mushidabad and Uttar Dinajpur,” said LoP Suvendu Adhikari.
