WITH Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay, who canceled his proposed visit to Velankanni in Nagapattinam district at the last minute on Saturday (May 2, 2026), chants of “TVK” by the restive cadre rang out at the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health in the wee hours, with videos of the slogans going viral on social media.
Police sources said a large number of cadres and fans had gathered at the shrine since midnight following information that Mr. Vijay would arrive around 5 am. Many gathered in the main church and raised slogans in anticipation of his arrival. After the announcement confirmed that the visit was cancelled, they began to part ways.
