Palakkad District Collector MS Madhavikutty has imposed a ban on the sale and use of firecrackers in the district on Monday (May 4) and Tuesday (May 5) in connection with the declaration of election results. All firecracker manufacturing and selling units will remain closed on these days.
Bursting of firecrackers during victory celebrations was also prohibited. Tahsildars and inspectors in charge of police stations in the district have been directed to ensure that all firecracker shops in their jurisdiction remain closed.
