Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill was mildly irritated after broadcaster Danny Morrison took a detour from cricket to ask him a personal question at the toss during Gujarat’s match against Punjab Kings. Known for his cheeky nature, the former New Zealand cricketer asked the GT captain if his wedding bells were ringing, taking the young batsman by surprise.
Gill, who is usually composed and measured during such interactions, did not look amused this time. The Indian batsman gave a short, restrained reply before turning away and continuing the conversation.

It’s not the first time Morrison has put Gill in an awkward position in the air. During the Indian Premier League 2025 season, a commentator asked a similar question during the pre-match chat at the Eden Gardens.
“Looking good, wedding bells around the corner? Getting married soon?” Morrison asked with a smile at the time. Gill replied with a nervous smile and said, “No, nothing like that,” before she brushed the moment away.
The line of interaction again drew mixed reactions from fans, with several questioning the relevance of personal questions in a professional broadcast.
On Sunday, Gill’s reaction suggested that the repetitive nature of the question may not have sat well with him. The brief exchange quickly died down as both sides focused on the match.
Gill led Gujarat Titans well in the 2026 Indian Premier League season. GT are firmly in the playoff race, having already played nine games this season. Gujarat are currently fifth in the league table with 10 points.
