The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS) has asked V. Lissy Mathew, a professor of Malayalam who retired from service on April 30, to submit her reply within a week to allegations of alleged irregularities in printing and the proposed publication of a biography of Chattampi Swamikalsky’s BA candidate and the awarding of a deficient degree.
Ms Mathew denied the allegations and accused the authorities of vindictiveness. On April 29, VC Ciza Thomas issued the notice charging Ms. Mathew, following the action taken after the university’s last-minute cancellation of the publication of Sri Tirthapada Puranam, an 11-volume biography of Chattampi Swamikal.
The publication of the book was canceled after the authorities reportedly discovered that only four volumes had been printed, while the other bound volumes stored in the box were empty.
