Punjab Kings made a touching gesture to make amends to a fan who was hit by a six during one of their home matches in Mullanpur, turning a painful moment in the stands into one the supporter is unlikely to forget.
Krishan Chand was hit in the face by a towering hit during the Punjab Kings IPL 2026 clash against Lucknow Super Giants after opener Priyansh Arya launched a delivery high into the crowd. The ball hit Chand flush in the face, leaving him bloodied and in visible pain as shocked spectators looked on. With blood running down his face and staining his shirt, the elderly fan was quickly helped by his colleagues before being taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. He later received stitches near his eyebrow.
What could have been a painful memory soon turned into a happy one.
As soon as the Punjab Kings were informed about the incident, the franchise reached out to Krishan Chand and his family. Soon after, Chand and his son were invited to a Zoom call with Arya and Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta in a gesture that underscored the franchise’s interest in one of its own supporters.
Arya admitted that he was deeply disturbed after seeing the footage of the incident.
“I saw the video and I was worried if it was a big injury,” Arya told Chand during the call, relieved to see the fan recovering.
Echoing those concerns, Zinta said she too was anxious from the moment she watched the clip. However, Chand took the incident in good spirits and assured both that he was recovering well.
“I’m fine, thanks to your blessings,” Chand said with a smile during the interview.
Arya then made a personal invitation and told him, “All our blessings are yours, uncle. If you can, please come to Dharamsala for the match.”
Zinta made the offer official and invited Krishan Chand to attend the upcoming Punjab Kings match in Dharamsala as a special guest. In a light-hearted moment, she joked that the franchise will make sure he comes better prepared this time.
“We would like to invite you to Dharamsala,” Zinta said. “And this time we’ll get you a helmet just in case. So if the ball comes, you’ll be safe.”
The gesture has added another layer to Punjab Kings’ impressive IPL 2026 campaign, with the franchise continuing to win admirers off the field as well as on it. PBKS remain among the frontrunners this season and will play their remaining home games in Dharamsala, where Krishan Chand is now expected to return to the stand, this time with a bit more protection.
