A 42-year-old migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh was arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) at the Jolarpet railway station in Tirupattur on Saturday for stealing cash and gold ornaments from passengers.
Police said the arrested person has been identified as Mohammed Rias, a native of Unnao town in UP. Initial investigation revealed that the GRP team had received many complaints from commuters about petty crime, including missing gold ornaments and cash. The cases were registered by GRP at Jolarpet railway station.
