Amid expectations of further growth in energy demand as the summer approaches and El Nino in sight, India could look to meet its increased energy requirements from traditional coal-fired thermal power plants and expanded solar power plants.
In fact, when the country increased its peak demand to 256.1 gigawatts on April 25, thermal plants almost maintained their dominant position accounting for 66.9% of generation, while solar power further strengthened its position to 21.5% of generated power.
