The incident happened in the second over of the game when the RR opener again showed no fear and took on the New Zealand pacer in the very first delivery and got a boundary. Jamieson didn’t let the early blow fool him. He held his line and lengths, kept it tight and struck back almost immediately – nailing a pointed yorker that beat Sooryavanshi and cut short the teenager’s stay before he could depart.
Brightly pumped after the goal, Jamieson turned to celebrate and locked eyes with Sooryavanshi on the way back, his intense gaze adding bite to the early breakthrough.
“Kyle Jamieson, Bowler, Delhi Capitals, accumulated one Demerit Point and was cautioned for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Team Code of Conduct for Players and Officials during Match #43 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.”
“Jamieson was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which relates to the use of language, actions or gestures that disparage or are likely to provoke an aggressive response from another player in a match.”
“The incident occurred in the second over of the first innings when, after the dismissal of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Jamieson was found to be in an aggressive manner near him, which may have provoked an aggressive response from the batsman,” the IPL statement said.
Jamieson acknowledged the infringement and accepted the penalty awarded by match referee Rajeev Seth.
FANS, EXCRICKETER UNHAPPY WITH JAMIESON
Jamieson’s animated celebration quickly sparked chatter on social media, with many fans surprised by the intensity of his reaction to the 15-year-old’s release.
Several responses highlighted how out of character this aggression was on his part, while others felt the post only highlighted Sooryavanshi’s growing stature and presence at such a young age.
Priyank Panchal was one of them and said that Jamieson’s celebration was not a pretty sight. However, he said it also showed the fear that Sooryavanshi instilled in bowlers and teams in the IPL.
“31-year-old Kyle Jamieson gives a 15-year-old the sack after dismissing him. It’s not a pretty sight. But it also shows how much impact and fear Vaibhav has already instilled in the opposition,” Panchal told X.
The reverse match between the two sides will be in Delhi on May 17 and fans are already anticipating Sooryavanshi to take revenge on Jamieson during the match.
