YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders on Friday said the recent legal action against the party’s general secretary (media) Pudi Srihari reflected a worrying trend targeting journalists and political communicators. After his release by the Guntur court, Mr. Srihari along with other leaders addressed a press conference.
Mr. Srihari said he maintained a clean and disciplined career in journalism for over 26 years and never crossed professional boundaries. He expressed concern that his role was being portrayed as part of “organized activity” and questioned whether journalism itself was considered a crime. “I didn’t do anything wrong and that’s why I’m not worried,” he said, adding that the development was more worrying for its implications for society than for personal reasons.
