Property tax collection in municipal bodies outside the national capital of the Telangana region saw a 15.11% increase under the 5% rebate offered through the early landing scheme, generating ₹47.95 crore this month, according to Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration TK Sreedevi.
In a statement issued on Thursday, it said the cumulative collection for April stood at ₹ 252 crore, compared to ₹ 204.5 crore collected in the same period last year, against a total demand of ₹ 1,667.75 crore. She attributed the increase to widespread publicity of the system, close monitoring at multiple administrative levels and regular notices sent to taxpayers that encouraged timely payments.
