Days after the India-led BRICS envoys’ meeting failed to reach a consensus position on the Gulf conflict, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi spoke on the phone on Wednesday (29 Apr 2026).
Following the talk, which is part of preparations for next month’s BRICS ministerial meeting in Delhi, the Iranian embassy here said the two ministers discussed the current Iran-US ceasefire as well as “bilateral, regional and international issues”. However, Mr. Araghchi is yet to confirm his attendance at the BRICS ministerial meeting.
