Most of the Departments are yet to upload the GO on the Tamil Nadu Government website
Only five of the 38 ministries have published their Government Orders (GOs) on the Tamil Nadu government website after the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) assumed office on 10 May.
The Departments of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Health and Family Welfare, Co-operation, Food and Consumer Protection, Finance and Public can be called “outliers” as they hosted their GOs issued in May and June on the website.
The orders, which are not available on the website, are for some major measures such as the creation of a special Singappen force and the provision of 100 more units of electricity to domestic consumers who consume 500 units in two months. Interestingly, GOs related to these measures are otherwise available in the public domain.
Regarding the waiver of crop loans taken by farmers from cooperative societies, the NV on extension of relief is available in the ‘What’s New’ section and the Tamil version of the ‘Government Regulations’ section of the Ministry of Co-operation, Food and Consumer Protection. However, it is not found in the English version of the ‘Government Orders’ section of the Ministry, whose last GO in the section was for the one issued on 25 January 2022. For the purpose of this study, only documents available through the English version of the GO section were considered.
The Ministry of Home, Prohibition and Excise, which issued the GO regarding special forces, is one of the 10 ministries that have published their orders on the web pending the enforcement of the model code of conduct for the assembly elections in April-May this year. His section has no GO after receiving the order issued on 27th February. But the Energy Department is in a different group because it and eight others have not updated their sections in the last year and a half. All their GOs were for 2024.
In the case of the Ministry of Energy, the last published decree was on October 14, 2024. The number of ministries that last published their decrees in 2025 was 10; in 2023 one and in 2022 three. The Public (Electoral) Department has not published any of its NVs issued since June 11, 2015.
A look at the Tamil version of the GO section reveals that only a few departments, including Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare, have published their orders.
