(Photo credit: IPL) NEW DELHI: Ryan Rickelton produced a night to remember, smashing the fastest century in Mumbai Indians history while also registering the franchise’s highest individual score during their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.The left-hander reached his maiden IPL hundred in just 44 balls, breaking the long-standing record jointly held by Sanath Jayasuriya (2008) and Tilak Varma (2026), both of whom reached the milestone in 45 deliveries.Wankhede lights up record knockHowever, Rickelton’s innings did not stop at the fastest hundred. The South African remained unbeaten on a stunning 123 off 55 balls, which is now the highest individual score in Mumbai Indians history. This surpassed Jayasuriya’s iconic 114 not out against Chennai Super Kings at the same venue in the inaugural season of 2008.Rickelton, who opened in place of the injured Quinton de Kock, took full advantage of the opportunity. He and Will Jacks gave MI a flying start with a 93 run stand in just seven overs. Even after quick wickets, Rickelton anchored the innings with authority and found support from Naman Dhir.The knock featured eight towering sixes and 10 fours as he dominated the bowlers with a blend of power and accuracy.
