The Kerala High Court has orally observed that the claim of 21,156 election officials who could not cast their vote in the recently concluded assembly elections was unfortunate if true.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) should provide necessary facilities to all eligible citizens, the court said while hearing petitions filed by a Kerala NGO and others seeking steps to make postal ballots available to employees on duty in the assemblies and extend the deadline for casting postal votes.
