Nottingham Forest and Evangelos Marinakis Target £20 Million "Giant"
Nottingham Forest and owner Evangelos Marinakis are reportedly eyeing a move to sign a £20 million "giant" in the upcoming transfer window, according to a recent report.
Morgan Gibbs-White Reflects on Forest’s Remarkable Season
Few could have predicted Nottingham Forest’s impressive campaign, which has positioned them as contenders for a European spot and even a top-four finish with just nine games remaining. It’s been a sensational season for the club, with recent victories over Manchester City and Ipswich Town keeping their ambitions alive.
Midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has been instrumental in Forest’s unexpected success. Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Gibbs-White reflected on the team’s journey:
“It’s been a remarkable year. Just to see where we have come from, from this time last year, is incredible. I think the Forest fans deserve that the most. Getting back into the Premier League was one thing. Scrambling in relegation for the two years we were in the Premier League obviously wasn’t nice. It wasn’t good; it wasn’t enjoyable, but now we have given the fans something to cheer about.”
He added: “The funny thing is that in pre-season, we had belief that we could do something this season. Did we think to this level? Probably not, but we felt that we could achieve something good this season. With the pre-season we had under the manager, because he perfectly implemented his ideas, his man management, and his belief in his players, he really got to know everyone individually. I think that is what has helped us massively. So, did I think we would be in this position? No. Would I have snapped your hand off? Yes. I think we deserve to be in the situation that we are in. We work so hard, day in and day out, to achieve these goals.”
Forest Plotting Move for £20 Million "Giant"
As Forest edge closer to securing a place in next season’s elite competition, plans for the summer transfer window are already underway. According to TuttoSport, relayed by Sport Witness, Forest are seriously interested in signing Lorenzo Lucca, a towering 6ft 7 forward currently playing for Italian side Udinese.
Lucca, who has scored 10 goals in 28 Serie A appearances this season, has attracted interest from several clubs, including AC Milan and Napoli. Although Milan attempted to sign him in January, a deal fell through, and they may face difficulties securing his signature in the summer. This could open the door for Forest, who are reportedly willing to pay around €25 million (£20 million) to bring the 24-year-old to the City Ground.
Lucca has been dubbed “the giant from Moncalieri” and could provide valuable competition and long-term replacement for striker Chris Wood. Forest have previously found success in Serie A, having signed defender Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina last summer. Milenkovic has been a key figure in Forest’s defence, which has conceded just 35 goals in the Premier League this season.
With Forest looking to replicate their success in the Italian market, the potential move for Lucca is one to watch as the summer transfer window approaches.
