With temperatures soaring in Punjab and prolonged power cuts affecting key cities, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on Monday (April 27, 2026) said it had taken a swift step to ensure uninterrupted power supply, even as the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) accused the government of a “complete failure that has left the common man struggling”.
Senior SAD leader Daljit Singh Cheema said, “The AAP government was directly responsible for the eight 10-hour power cuts in the state as it failed to make short-term power purchases, execute timely power exchange agreements with hill states and engage in spot power trading due to acute shortage of funds. It is a clear case of mismanagement.”
