The Chabahar port issue is being discussed with both Iran and the United States, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday (27 April 2026), as India faces a major test of its strategic autonomy as US sanctions expire on 26 April.
New Delhi now has two options, either decide to end the 23-year-old project in the Iranian port city or face US sanctions.
