Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday (April 27, 2026) directed officials to bring down the state’s power purchase cost to ₹ 4.60 per unit by the end of the year and called for higher renewable energy generation and technology-led reforms in the power sector.
While reviewing the power department at the Chief Minister’s camp office, Mr. Naidu reviewed the summer power supply, procurement plans for 2026-27 and implementation of central schemes like PM Surya Ghar and PM Kusum. Officials said the state’s daily energy consumption in summer is estimated at 275-285 million units and that total consumption this month reached 6,397 million units, up 14% from the same period last year due to higher industrial and seasonal demand.
