Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee following his animated reaction to a controversial dismissal against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026. The youngster has also received one demerit point for breaching the league’s Code of Conduct.
An official statement from the IPL governing body said that Raghuvanshi was found guilty of a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2, which relates to the misuse of equipment during a match. According to the statement, Raghuvanshi confessed to the crime.

“Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been fined 20% of his match fee and also accrued one Demerit Point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct,” the statement said.
“He was found to have breached Article 2.2, which relates to misuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match,” he added.
The incident occurred shortly after his recall, when the batsman hit the boundary pad with his bat and later threw off his helmet in frustration as he walked back.

The controversy unfolded in the fifth over of KKR’s innings. Batting nine off seven balls, Raghuvanshi edged a delivery from Prince Yadav and went for a quick single at first.
However, a mix-up with his partner at the non-striker’s end saw him return midway. As he scrambled to the ground, a throw from Mohammed Shami hit him in the pads.

LSG immediately appealed and the decision was escalated. After a close review, the TV umpire sent him off for obstructing the field and concluded that Raghuvanshi had changed his running path in a way that interfered with the throw.
The decision sparked debate, with many questioning whether the batter intentionally changed direction or simply reacted instinctively in a split second.
HOW DID HE AND THE KKR MANAGEMENT REACT?
The call did not go down well in the KKR camp.
Raghuvanshi was visibly frustrated and engaged in a brief exchange with the on-field umpires before leaving. His disappointment overflowed as he threw his helmet towards the dugout and hit the boundary pad with his bat.
The reaction has spread off the field as well. Members of KKR’s support staff were seen protesting near the boundary line, with assistant coach Shane Watson reacting angrily to the decision. Head coach Abhishek Nayar was also involved in a heated discussion with the fourth umpire.
